Two injured in separate morning shootings in East Oakland

OAKLAND — A 38-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were wounded in separate shootings 5 hours apart Saturday morning in different areas of East Oakland, authorities said.

Both were in stable condition at a hospital and the shootings do not appear to be connected, authorities said.

Authorities said the 38-year-old man was shot just before 10 a.m. as he was walking in the 3500 block of 68th Avenue. He was wounded multiple times and may have been shot by someone in a passing vehicle, authorities said.

He got his own transportation to a hospital. A motive for the shooting has not been determined and no arrests have been made.

The 22-year-old woman was shot once at about 5:06 am as she was sitting in a car in the 2000 block of East 15th Street. She was able to get a ride to a hospital. Police have not yet determined a motive and no arrests have been made.

Police said Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money in each shooting for information leading to the arrest of the shooters. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
