Fuelling Around podcast: Vernon Kay on prime time driving years

Household name Vernon Kay is the first celebrity to talk all things cars and much more in the second series of the Fuelling Around podcast – powered by Adrian Flux.

The host of the new prime time ITV show Game of Talents has been on our television screens and airwaves for two decades and entertained the nation in the last series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here late last year.

Vernon, the husband of fellow TV host Tess Daly, shares plenty of laughs and tales with co-hosts Jason Platon and Dave Vitty as he reminisces about his appearance in the I’m a Celeb castle.

The 46-year-old reveals why he’s an expert at mopping and joined in the joke about how a squirrel problem at home could lead to a new idea being pitched for a Channel Five programme.

Vernon Kay and his ‘insane’ Nissan GTR

The Bolton presenter looks back at how his lorry-driving dad Norman’s love of cars and passion for trading them in influenced his own collection.

It started with a Fiat Tipo, and an unfortunate experience the day he passed his test, and now includes a bespoke Nissan GTR that has achieved a “manageable 958 BHP” – a vehicle Vernon describes as “insane” with “usable grunt”.

A desire to be more economic has seen the Formula E presenter also spend some time behind the wheel of a Jaguar I-PACE. It allows Kay, Plato and Vitty to look forward to the future of electric vehicles after spending plenty of time raising smiles with nostalgic stories about driving.
