Warriors hooker Wayde Egan has revealed just how nasty the face laceration he suffered on Sunday is.

Egan was taken from the field in the 73rd minute with the help of two trainers for a HIA. Going with his concussion was blood pouring down his face from a cut. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Coach Nathan Brown said after the match that the No.9 was “not in a good way” and indicated that he will spend time on the sidelines.

“There’s a real bad cut and he’s not in a good way. He’s not very stable and he has very blurred (vision),” he said.

On Monday, Egan shared a photo on his Instagram story of the deep cut.

Meanwhile, Brown also confirmed Chanel Harris-Tavita’s season was over after he suffered a suspected torn pectoral muscle in the loss to the Storm.

Storm coach Craig Bellamy has confirmed Ryan Papenhuyzen’s likely return date after admitted the Melbourne fullback was left “doughy” after copping a big shot to the head in Magic Round.

Papenhuyzen has not been sighted in Storm colours since their win over the Dragons at Suncorp Stadium.

The fullback was collected high by Red V backrower Tyrell Fuimaono who was sent from the field.

Bellamy told media after his side’s win over the Warriors that Papenhuyzen had struggled both physically and emotionally with his recovery after being stretchered off at Magic Round.

But the Storm coach was hopeful the electric fullback, who was in many experts’ NSW Origin 17, tentatively pencilled in Round 16 against the Roosters as a return date.

“I’m not quite sure when he’s going to be back to play … I think he’s looking at that Roosters game but it will be up to how he’s feeling and what the specialists say,” Bellamy said.

“The last week or 10 days has been really promising in that things are starting to move on a little bit.

“(Papenhuyzen) was obviously very doughy for three or four weeks after.

“He’s started back into training but is still not training with the team. He is doing his own training, but there’s been a marked improvement in the last week to his demeanour.

“He was down and it was obviously affecting him but he seems to have turned a corner.”
