NRL LIVE: Red-hot Cowboys face biggest test yet in clash with reshuffled Storm

The red-hot Cowboys will face their biggest test yet when they host the Storm at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday.

The Cowboys have emerged as the real surprise packet of 2022. They sit third on the ladder having won seven of their first 10 games — five of those on the trot.

But many would argue they’ve had a relatively kind draw up until this point.

The Storm may be without two of their superstars in Ryan Papenhuyzen and Jahrome Hughes but as always the juggernaut club won’t be an easy feat.

Cowboys coach Todd Payten has had the luxury of naming the same 17 that comfortably beat the Tigers during Magic Round.

As for the Storm, Hughes was initially named to return from a calf injury but was ruled out 24 hours out from kick-off. Coach Craig Bellamy has moved Nick Meaney — who was originally named on the wing — to halfback with Dean Ieremia being promoted from the bench to the wing.

Six-game rookie Tyran Wishart has been named at fullback despite a mixed performance last week. However there’s a good chance Bellamy will make further changes before kick-off.

Nelson Asofa-Solomona is out with a knee injury, which sees Brandon Smith shifted to prop.
