Gorden Tallis had a cheeky exchange with Cowboys coach Todd Payten over star lock Jason Taumalolo’s minutes restriction ahead of their clash with the Sea Eagles.
Payten famously announced after Round 1 that Taumalolo’s minutes would be reduced in a bid to improve his longevity given he is signed with the club until 2027 when he will be 34.
Payten copped plenty of criticism for the controversial decision and Taumalolo’s minutes have seen a steady increase during the Cowboys’ mid-season resurgence.

Tallis couldn’t resist a cheeky little dig at Payten in his pre-match interview in posing a question on Taumalolo’s minutes going forward.
“It must be good to have Jason Taumalolo back and how are you going with how many minutes he is playing?” Tallis asked Payten on Fox League before turning to the rest of the panel and pulling a hilarious face.
“Have you got that down pat?”

“Mate, it is 12 weeks ago Gordy, come on,” Payten shot back with a laugh.
“No mate, because there is a science behind it,” Tallis interjected.
“I haven’t spoken to Jason for the last 11 weeks, so we will just see how we go tonight,” Payten replied in gest.
