The Indian Premier League has been hit with a serious COVID-19 setback, with Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Varun Chakravarty reportedly testing positive for the virus.
The report came from The Australian, which also reported that the seventh-placed side’s clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore (midnight tonight AEST) has also been postponed.
Two Australians – Pat Cummins and Ben Cuttings – play for Kolkata, and there are fears they may have been exposed to COVID-19.
It comes after Fairfax reported a number of Kolkata Knight Riders players and staff were isolating after multiple players became ill – though it was unclear at that point if any had tested positive for COVID-19.
The team includes Australian star Pat Cummins, England’s Eoin Morgan, West Indies guns Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, as well as star locals like Shubman Gill and Dinesh Karthik.
Another two Australians – Glenn Maxwell and Daniel Sams – play for Bangalore.
